How Instagram Transcript collects, uses, and protects information.

Effective date: 4 September 2026

Operator: Independent developer Legal contact: [email protected]

1. Introduction

Instagram Transcript is an independent web service designed for a global audience. This policy explains what information we process when you use the site, why we process it, and the choices available to you. Instagram Transcript is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Instagram or Meta.

2. Data we collect

  • Account data: name, email, avatar, login provider, session identifiers, IP address, device and browser details, and security logs.
  • Transcript data: the submitted public Instagram URL and its hash, video ID, title, author, thumbnail, duration, language, transcript text, and timestamps.
  • Anonymous identifiers: the transcript_visitor cookie, a derived visitor hash, and daily trial usage records.
  • Billing data: order number, plan, amount, currency, payment status, and payment-platform identifiers. We do not directly store complete payment-card numbers.
  • Support data: messages and attachments you send to a support, privacy, refund, or copyright address.
  • Consent data: your versioned choices for necessary, functional, analytics, marketing, and support cookies.

We do not ask for private Instagram credentials and do not bypass private accounts, login walls, or access controls.

3. How we use data

We use information to provide transcripts and exports, manage accounts and credits, process payments, prevent abuse, respond to support and rights requests, secure the service, understand aggregate performance when analytics is enabled, and meet legal or accounting obligations.

Depending on your location, processing is based on performing a contract (providing the service), your consent (optional cookies and marketing), our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, and service improvement), and legal obligations (tax, payment, and compliance records).

5. Third-party providers

We use categories of providers for hosting and databases, authentication, Instagram media extraction, OpenAI-compatible speech recognition, payment processing, email, analytics, affiliate measurement, advertising, and customer support. A provider receives only the data needed for its task. Enabled providers and their processing locations may change; their privacy notices apply to their own processing.

6. International transfers

Providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States or other regions where they operate. We use contractual, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the transfer and disclose provider details when required by applicable law.

The service may be used by people in different countries, and privacy rights can vary by location. We apply the safeguards described in this policy and respond to requests under applicable law.

7. Retention

  • Anonymous transcript results: up to 24 hours.
  • Signed-in transcript results: up to 7 days.
  • Anonymous visitor-limit records: 30 days.
  • Security logs: 90 days.
  • Support records: up to 24 months.
  • Payment and tax records: retained only where required for payment, tax, accounting, or anti-fraud obligations. Payment providers may retain their own records under their policies.

You can delete your own transcript before expiry. Expired content is rejected immediately even if a scheduled cleanup has not yet run; cleanup jobs then remove database rows and available storage objects. Account deletion removes account-linked records from this service; legally required records held by a payment provider may remain under that provider's policy.

8. Security

We use access controls, least-privilege provider access, encrypted transport, and operational logging. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Tell us promptly if you believe an account or transcript has been accessed improperly.

9. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection to marketing; withdraw optional cookie consent; and complain to your local data-protection authority. Contact [email protected] from the account email where possible. We may verify identity before completing a request.

10. Children

The service is for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted information.

11. Changes

We may update this policy as the service or legal requirements change. We will post the revised version and effective date. Material changes may also be announced in the product.

12. Contact

Privacy questions and requests: [email protected]. The service is operated by an independent developer; no residential street address is published on this page.
